Upon invitation of the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of External Relations of Angola, Dr. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chicoti, paid a visit to Russia from April 5 to 9, 2014.
During the negotiations with his Russian counterpart, the Angolan Minister discussed a vast range of problems in relation to the bilateral cooperation and certain topics of the international agenda.
The parties touched upon various bilateral agreements meant to enlarge contacts and cooperation in business, science, technologies and culture. In particular, special attention was given to the implementation of big joint projects in the sphere of energy, geological prospecting, mines operation, communications and telecommunications, new technologies, fishery, education, banking and others.
The two Ministers exchanged opinions on key issues of the world politics, namely the reform of the United Nations and its Security Council and disarmament. They also focused on the situation in the Middle East and in the North of Africa. The Heads of the diplomacy of the two countries gave special attention to the problems of Africa, including ways to find solutions to the crises, the problems of peace, social and economic development of African states on a sustainable basis.
