PRESENTATION OF THE CREDENTIALS BY H.E. AMBASSADOR JOAQUIM AUGUSTO DE LEMOS IN THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN

jhkljhOn 14 November, 2013 H.E. Joaquim Augusto de Lemos, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola, presented his Credentials to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and thus he was accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Azerbaijan, with residence in Moscow.

The ceremony began with the Ambassador's passing by the Guard of Honor and culminated when he presented the Letters of Credence to H.E. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which took place in the Ceremony Hall of the Presidential Palace.

Immediately after, H.E. Ambassador Joaquim Augusto de Lemos had an audience with H.E. Ilham Aliyev with whom he discussed perspectives for the development of bilateral relations.

President I. Aliyev emphasized the existing opportunities for the development of bilateral relations between Angola and Azerbaijan in various fields, in the first place in economy and energy.

The President of Azerbaijan took the opportunity to express his gratitude to President Jose Eduardo dos Santos for his congratulations on the occasion of Mr. Aliyev's re-election at the presidential elections held on 9 October of the current year.

The Minister of Energy and Industry of Azerbaijan and diplomats from the Embassy of the Republic of Angola to the Russian Federation were also present at the audience.

On November, 15 H.Е. Ambassador Joaquim Augusto de Lemos accompanied by Foreign Ministry officials and diplomats from the Embassy of the Republic of Angola to the Russian Federation laid a wreath to the monument to Heydar Aliyev, National Leader and former President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
